Basic Drawing Fundamentals (Saturday) | Amanda Mears

$499.00

Beginning Drawing is a foundation level class aimed at absolute beginners as well as intermediate level artists who want an intensive refresher on fundamental drawing skills. The class begins with an overview of your drawing materials and continues with exercises designed to sharpen your observational skills so that you can create accurate, beautifully-rendered drawings in charcoal and graphite.

We will spend time drawing the basic forms from a still life and cast set up using direct lighting to help you render form accurately using light logic. You will learn how to see these same basic forms when we move onto more complex objects. We will look at strategies for creating compelling compositions and learn to measure to create proper proportions and size relationships. We will cover eye level and foundation perspective, explore line and values, direct lighting and cast shadows as well as soft and hard edges. You will be given detailed handouts along with lots of one on one instruction and demonstrations.
