LAAFA Young Masters Workshops gives teens, 12 and up, the opportunity to grow as artists by strengthening their foundational skill-set for drawing and painting. In these workshops, we will challenge the
students, create good habits, and achieve individual goals.
The day will be filled with classroom projects, visiting artists’ demos/lectures and art history lessons. All levels are encourage to enroll.

The Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art (LAAFA) is accepting applications for our Fall full-time degree and atelier programs. LAAFA is considered a premier choice for students wanting an intensive art program that provides the necessary foundation skills allowing our students to apply these fundamentals to a career in the fine art or entertainment art industry.
3. Portfolio pieces including the required drawing need to be sent in JPEG format (each image approximately 1280 x 800).
A. Create a zip folder with your first initial and full last name.
B. Email to the Admissions Department.
5. Once we have received a students’ completed application, it will take approximately 10 to 14-days for a reply.
6. If accepted into our program, students are eligible to apply for our scholarship program.
LAAFA operates on a rolling admissions basis. Prospective students are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis for the next available starting quarter. LAAFA only accepts a small number of students to the program each year. We hope you will consider LAAFA as the start of your artistic journey. Art Book Donations and More…
Our library is coming soon! We would greatly appreciate any book (lightly used) donations. You may bring all types of books from art to murder mysteries. In addition, if you have any backdrop material (silk sheets), furniture or any other cool items that we can use at the school, please call or email us about your items.
Bergamot Station – Mini Pop-Up Art Gallery Shows
We want to give the artistic community an opportunity to showcase their work at the famed Bergamot Station in Santa Monica. Reserve a weekend in our gallery for a solo or group show! Just email us with your dates, sample of work and budget. We will be happy to put a proposal together to fit your needs.
Please join us on January 12th, from 6:00pm to 9:30pm for an Open House at Bergamot Station in our Santa Monica location. There will be a complimentary Tonal Drawing demonstration by the masterful Vadim Zang. You may enjoy the demo as you are perusing the gallery showing our recent exhibition, “The Figure“. Online “Drawing the Portrait in Charcoal” course by Nathan Fowkes
We are thrilled to announce the release of our latest online course with Nathan Fowkes, “Drawing the Portrait in Charcoal”, now open for registration, starting January 21, 2013. Space is limited!
This online course is a serious exploration of drawing the portrait from life in charcoal. Over the course of the class, Nathan will provide each student with the necessary understanding and experience to draw the human head with authority. Watch the preview video and learn more here.
Online “3D Anatomy/Ecorché” course by Rey Bustos
A fabulous online course, Rey Bustos’ “3D Anatomy/Ecorché” starting January 28, 2013 is also open for registration for critique and self-study courses. Space is limited!
If you are a fan of Rey Bustos, you must experience him in a classroom setting with students present. The interaction between Rey and his students adds another dimension to his teaching since the questions posed by the students and the energy of the classroom environment lead Rey to veer off to lecture on topics that wouldn’t normally be covered if he was lecturing to a camera.
