Why LAAFA Art Programs
LAAFA Art Program’s prepare students for becoming well-trained artists. Take a peek at the “Highlighted Features” and find out why our Fine and Entertainment Art Programs are a solid art education choice.
We are dedicated to unmatched one-on-one training of the individual student; whether they are a passionate newcomer, fulfilling an artistic dream, or a seasoned professional perfecting fundamental skills and exploring new visions.
LAAFA Art Programs’ level of intense study will accelerate your artistic development by forcing you to accurately represent what you see, obtain sensitivity for solid design and composition, and develop a personal connection with your work.
Although most animations, video games, and movie effects today end up as a digital culmination, the traditional skills of drawing, painting, and composition are more critical than ever. Artists that have a love for storytelling, character design and visual development with the desire to work in the entertainment arena must be advanced in traditional skills or the digital software is of no value. Artists with these “skill sets” easily adapt to any new software introduced, and are consistently chosen to design animations, movies and games. Our Entertainment Program focuses on these essential traditional skills and is aware of how quality digital production depends on them.
While most programs offered by other institutions have cut back on essential foundation classes, LAAFA has remained committed to its offering of traditional oriented classes as part of its curriculum. This is one of the major differences between our Entertainment Program and others.
Here are some additional features of our BFA Degree and Atelier Certificate Programs:
SMALL STUDENT-TO-TEACHER CLASS RATIO
Classes at LAAFA are much more intimate in size than any other art institution. The smaller class sizes allow our students to get individual attention from the instructors thus helping them overcome their unique challenges in a more focused and intensive way. The students at LAAFA are not just a number.
The cost of our programs are the most affordable in comparison to other institutions offering similar curriculum. The fact is, you can get a top notch education at LAAFA and graduate without a burden of large student loans to have to pay back.
3rd year students have the opportunity to select mentors of their choice regardless of the artists’ geographical location or whether their desired mentors teach at LAAFA or not. LAAFA’s reputation and excellence has allowed us to pursue and secure the top mentor choices of our students.
You will receive instruction from dedicated faculty of the highest caliber that are also working professionals in the fields that they teach, and are aware of the demands upon artists today. Each and every instructor is articulate and able to provide personal instruction and advisement to our small student body.
LAAFA has a rare and special arrangement with a local university to provide a lab for our Anatomy/Ecorché students where they will draw and study from a dissected cadaver and thus gain a deeper level of understanding of the human figure. LAAFA is one of the very few programs providing our students this indispensable educational experience.
ARTIST'S STUDIO VISITS
Los Angeles is home to many truly great artists. LAAFA offers our students the chance to meet and see how successful artists work on a daily basis. Not only do we visit successful gallery painters, but we also visit animation houses and design studios in an attempt to show our students the practical day to day activities of professional artists as well as what to expect when they themselves become working professionals.
Studio space is specifically designated for our 3rd year students to work on continued projects throughout each term.
COMPLIMENTARY EXTENSION COURSES/WORKSHOPS
