Douglas Kirk trained in Fine Art Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, Scotland, (now a faculty of the University of Dundee), and then received a post- graduate MA degree after studying painting at the Royal College of Art in London. After graduating Douglas worked as an art instructor at the Sir John Cass School of Art in London for some years while pursuing a career as an exhibiting artist.
Teaching life drawing and anatomy classes in several animation studios in London led to a request that he join an animation production studio that the Walt Disney Company were setting up in London. Subsequently, Douglas has had a busy career working with companies like Richard Williams Animation, Steven Spielberg’s Amblimation, and Dreamworks to name but a few. With his depth and breadth of experience and knowledge Douglas has also been a popular instructor over the past decade at the Art Institute of California-LA and at LAAFA teaching drawing, painting and animation related courses.
