Please join us for our Open House coming September 9th!  You will have the opportunity to enjoy complimentary drawing demonstrations during the day’s festivities. Donate your art books to our library and receive an opportunity to win one FREE 8-week class, one uninstructed workshop pass or three instructed 3-hr class passes!  (One book is equivalent to one raffle ticket.  Select classes offered.)

Daniel Bilmes Portrait Drawing Demonstration from 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Daniel will do a portrait drawing from a live model. Focusing on the form and tonal relationships, as well as capturing the character of the sitter, Daniel will illustrate his drawing technique using charcoal and chalk on toned paper.

Daniel Bilmes is an artist in the classic figurative genre, whose paintings are noted for their elegance, refinement and serene humanism.

Daniel is the recipient of the Grand Prize, in the “2011 Utrecht / American Artist Magazine Competition”, and has recently been awarded the “Portrait Merit Award” in this year’s Salon International.

Ramon Hurtado Figure Drawing Demonstration from 3:30pm to 5:30pm

In this 2 hour demo, Ramon will demonstrate how to effectively plan a long pose figure drawing, from achieving strong gesture to delicate tonal modeling. Drawing from a live model, we will discuss measuring, value plans, structure, anatomy and materials.

Ramon is a painter and draftsman working with figurative and landscape subjects. His training included intensive studies with Glenn Vilppu, Will Weston, Adrian Gottlieb and Robert Liberace. He is inspired by the beautiful light of Southern California and the work of 19th century Spanish and Italian painters.
